Girona's rich cultural heritage shows in the wide variety of typical products of Girona. These all make splendid souvenirs for visitors to take home with them. Foodstuffs such as the xuixo pastry and botifarra dol are popular among tourists. The xuixa is a cylindrical-shaped pastry that is filled with cream in the center - an excellent dessert or snack food. The botifarra dol is a type of soft, sweet sausage. Chocolates are also aplenty that depict features and characteristics of the town itself and are inspired by the legends of Girona. Wines, especially the cava, are signature items of Catalonia, so visitors should make sure to grab at least a bottle (or crate!). Finally, the various types of cured meats and cheeses are also unique to Catalonia and cannot be found anywhere else in the world except here.
Crafts are also favorite souvenir items. Works of black terracotta, especially pots and jugs, are exquisitely crafted. Iron craftworks are also plentiful and feature a variety of designs and shapes. Then there's paintings, sculptures, and other objets d'art produced by craftsmen at the Pont de Pedra every Saturday.
